They have done it, they have surpassed their debut, I was attentive to this release that has been in the making lately and that is being talked about a lot, Morfina have entered the scene on the right foot, not only talking about "Violence" that four-song EP that they released last year, but seeing that they are appearing on good posters, yes, they are already confirmed for the Black Templar in Monzón and they are having a good impact live, by the way, they have a very good live performance too so I advise you that if you have the opportunity, do not let it pass.

It's always a pleasure to see a band that started from scratch make a name for itself in the underground scene, and at this point, everyone has at least heard of Morfina. All of this has been achieved through hard work and dedication, as their first EP, "Violence," already left many of us very satisfied, based on raw, 90s-style black metal that stood out from the crowd. Now, they've just released their first full-length album, and I can assure you they've surpassed themselves.

The 2023 EP "Violence" and its follow-up, "Consume Your Existence," a solid and coherent black metal exercise that draws sonic references from MARDUK and DARK FUNERAL, to name a couple, are the works released to date by MORFINA, a Castellón-based band featuring musicians who play or have played in THE ART OF BUTCHERY, ACRUX, MY HATE, and UNDER COLD SUN.

It doesn't even last half an hour for a set that unleashes a raw, unadorned sound, as can be heard at the beginning of "Heaven's Death." And although some acoustic guitars are included in "Consume Your Existence", the result is heartbreaking, with compositions that contain melody, but where rage and a sonic filth predominate.

Black metal is increasingly on the rise, one of the most acclaimed styles within Extreme Metal and with the greatest projection in terms of bands. In our lands, there is a significant avalanche of hordes of darkness, and Morfina is a band that has created havoc with their first album, "Consume Your Existence", released by Base Record Production in all three formats.

The Valencians bring us a succulent black metal dominated by harmony and melody, where they don't stagnate in the primordial laws of their ancestors. Quite the contrary, on this first album, you can find everything from good melodies, whispering atmospheres, and even progression in their compositions. This quintet displays great elegance in its performances. For our part, "Consume Your Existence" enters the spotlight among the most acclaimed albums of the Spanish extreme scene this year.
